In April 2015, the mentors at my internship advised me to sign up for the Worldwide Developer's Conference Scholarship competition to win a ticket to the biggest app development event in the world. It had only been 5 months since I had started to learn coding and 2 months since I had begun to use Swift.
To enter the competition, I had to make an app that talked about my experience in App Development, my education, interests and, most importantly, how that affected who I am.
It was an intense week of sleepless nights, mostly due to the classics: "this doesn't work and I don't know why" and "this works and I don't know why". In the end, I proudly held in my hands the first app I fully conceptualized, designed and implemented.
After the thrill of being selected, I was blown away by the chance of also taking part in a BuzzFeed interview on what it means to Code Like a Girl.
